A Family Run Business
Clive Scott Chimney Sweeps are a family run business based in Kent.
From our office in Gravesend, we cover all of Kent and South London. Pictured is the newest generation to join the family business in Luke Scott.
As Luke is now too big to be sent up the chimneys by law, he is now concentrating in expanding the business services to cover Stove and wood burning insulations.

We can fit a wide range of cowls for every situation from a basic bird guard to a pot hanging rain cap and anti down draft cowls.
Kent and London
The areas covered include Kent and South East London which takes us along the Thames from Woolwich in the west and on into the historic towns of Dartford, Gravesend, Rochester, Chatham, Hoo and all the surrounding Villages to the East. From there we come across country towards Gillingham, Maidstone and out onto the beautiful Downs towards Tonbridge, Wrotham, Sevenoaks and Westerham to the South. From Westerham we head north towards Orpington, Bromley, Chislehurst, Sundridge, Beckenham, Dulwich, Dulwich Village, Sidcup, Welling, Blackfen, Blackheath, Plumstead and Belvedere.

Clean chimneys burn more efficiently, which will save you money, as well as helping to reduce your carbon footprint. Therefore regular sweeping is vital as it removes soot and blockages and allows deadly gases to vent safely up through the chimney.

How often will depend on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, frequency and duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, type of chimney. We will be able to advise on what’s best for you during our visit.
Q: DOES SWEEPING THE CHIMNEY MAKE MESS?

No, not when it’s done properly by an experienced professional.
We have a number of best practice techniques for preventing dust escapes. We provide clean dust sheets to cover the fireplace area and seal the opening, an industrial hepa-filter vacuum is always used to contain soot/dust. A rare exception may be when the chimney is blocked, you will always be consulted before we attempt to remove the blockage.
Q: WHAT IS THE BEST FUEL TO USE?

For certain appliances, there are recommended fuels and these should use as per the manufacturers guidance. As a general rule, dry seasoned wood is recommended. It is clean, gives good heat and is carbon neutral. If you prefer solid fuels, find your local Approved Coal Merchant who will have the expert knowledge to guide you. There are some interesting new fuel mixes coming to the market.

Some jobs may take longer to complete so expect to pay more if extra time is necessary. If you are comparing prices of different sweeps try to make sure you are comparing like for like. There is no substitute for experience and professionalism. Cost may also vary in different areas (including congestion charges, parking charges, toll fees etc.). Clive will supply expert advice on fuels and how to get the best out of your stove or fire. This advice alone could save you more than the cost of a sweep over the course of a burning season.

“When Clive came and showed me via a cctv camera the state of the inside of my chimney I was shocked. I’d not had my chimney swept for many years. “I think from the look on his face he had already worked that out!” Clive got set up and then over an hour later and three bin bags full of soot he was finished.
