So if your thinking of having your chimney swept or if you are experiencing problems with your Chimney or Appliance, please don’t hesitate to contact us by telephone or e-mail as we are always on hand to help and advise wherever possible.
Clean chimneys burn more efficiently, which will save you money, as well as helping to reduce your carbon footprint. Therefore regular sweeping is vital as it removes soot and blockages and allows deadly gases to vent safely up through the chimney.
Q: HOW OFTEN DOES MY CHIMNEY NEED SWEEPING?
How often will depend on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, frequency and duration of use, moisture content of wood fuel, type of chimney. We will be able to advise on what’s best for you during our visit.
Q: DOES SWEEPING THE CHIMNEY MAKE MESS?
No, not when it’s done properly by an experienced professional.
We have a number of best practice techniques for preventing dust escapes. We provide clean dust sheets to cover the fireplace area and seal the opening, an industrial hepa-filter vacuum is always used to contain soot/dust. A rare exception may be when the chimney is blocked, you will always be consulted before we attempt to remove the blockage.
Q: WHAT IS THE BEST FUEL TO USE?
For certain appliances, there are recommended fuels and these should use as per the manufacturers guidance. As a general rule, dry seasoned wood is recommended. It is clean, gives good heat and is carbon neutral. If you prefer solid fuels, find your local Approved Coal Merchant who will have the expert knowledge to guide you. There are some interesting new fuel mixes coming to the market.
Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO HAVE MY CHIMNEY SWEPT?
Some jobs may take longer to complete so expect to pay more if extra time is necessary. If you are comparing prices of different sweeps try to make sure you are comparing like for like. There is no substitute for experience and professionalism. Cost may also vary in different areas (including congestion charges, parking charges, toll fees etc.). Clive will supply expert advice on fuels and how to get the best out of your stove or fire. This advice alone could save you more than the cost of a sweep over the course of a burning season.

“We recently purchased an older style property. As there is no mains gas supply we are solely reliant on oil and solid fuel for heating.
We had two multi fuel stoves and Geoff our neighbour recommended Clive Scott chimney sweeps as he was his regular sweep.
Clive arrived on time, was very friendly and put us at ease immediately. He swept both our chimney’s, gave answers and advise to all our questions and made no mess at all! We will definitely recommend and be using Clive’s company again.”
“I was a bit concerned as I had never had my chimney swept before.
Well I was pleasantly surprised after the visit of Clive Scott chimney sweeps. He was a really nice guy and very helpful. He made no mess at all. In fact we laughed over a cup of tea before he left as I said I thought my lounge was actually cleaner now than before he came LOL.
I will definitely be calling Clive back again next year and have already recommended him to three of my friends.
Great service!! Highly Recommended!!”
“We have just used Clive Scott for the first time to sweep our house chimney. He was superb, the complete Chimney Sweep.
His quality of workmanship, his equipment, and his knowledge and expertise were all impressive.
We will continue to use Clive and have no hesitation in recommending him to others.
Thank you Clive.”
“When Clive came and showed me via a cctv camera the state of the inside of my chimney I was shocked. I’d not had my chimney swept for many years. “I think from the look on his face he had already worked that out!” Clive got set up and then over an hour later and three bin bags full of soot he was finished. No mess, no fuss, but a lot of sweat!!
Before Clive left we made arrangements as to when I should have my chimney swept again. He went through all the pit falls of not having it swept and the best way to use my fire for burning. He was so polite and courteous but I got this feeling that in a very nice way I was being told off!! (Rightly so).”
